Claudia joined IWJ's staff in October 2010 as the National Health and Safety Coordinator. She is responsible for developing a national health and safety program targeting low-wage workers in five core industries -- construction, office cleaning, food processing/meatpacking, landscaping, and auto-repair -- as well as training staff at worker centers to educate workers on their rights as they relate to health and safety in these industries.
Prior to joining IWJ, Claudia worked as an attorney with the Legal Aid Justice Center in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC, where she recovered wages for hundreds of immigrant workers who were victims of wage theft. Before then, she represented migrant farmworkers in employment law matters at Florida Rural Legal Services. Claudia is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and has a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Studies from the University of South Florida.
